Skybox Unboxed Featuring Jack O'Neill
TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 2026
The basis for Skybox’s success lies in the hard work and achievement of our employees. We are highlighting each of our team members from various departments to share their impact on Skybox and what makes them the heartbeat of our organization.
"Jack brings several key talents to our development team, and does so with relentless positivity and drive. His ability to sort through vast amounts of information quickly and help filter out the best opportunities has been key to running an efficient national site selection program. Importantly, Jack also cares deeply about the communities that Skybox has focused on and spends a meaningful amount of time building genuine relationships with community officials, residents and business leaders in each market that Skybox pursues. His relentless dedication to helping grow Skybox’s pipeline has been invaluable to our platform.”
- Chief Development Officer, Haynes Strader
How did you get into the data center industry?
I’m from Dallas, TX, and attended St. Mark’s School of Texas before studying Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics at SMU. While at SMU, I worked part time for Mikey Saloma in the recruiting office as a tour guide for the engineering school.
Each week, prospective students and their families visited the Lyle School of Engineering and the Cox School of Business. One week, I had the opportunity to give a tour to the Wojtaszeks, where I met Gary Wojtaszek, co-founder and former CEO of CyrusOne Datacenters. After the tour, we reconnected, and he offered me a part-time position at CyrusOne during my junior year of college. That’s when I officially entered the data center industry.
What makes working for Skybox different?
Skybox is a fantastic place to work because of its hardworking, people-first ethos and a genuine team that’s dedicated to doing things the right way. Our strong, experienced leadership sets the tone, and we also have great swag!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Meeting so many great people while helping advance our new developments has truly been my favorite part of the job. I also enjoy the ability to create solutions. I love the problem-solving, puzzle-building nature of my role and collaborating with incredible partners to get our new deals buttoned up and ready to take to market.
What’s your favorite way to spend your time off?
I love to cook, surf, ski, hunt, fish, and spend time with my wife, our two dogs, and our new daughter. Anything that gets me and my family outdoors is an ideal setting for us.
Depending on the season, my favorite way to spend time off is traveling with family and friends, usually to Lake Cypress Springs in East Texas. I enjoy fishing, hunting, and skiing in the winter at Snowbird, Utah, or in Colorado.
If I’m staying close to home, you’ll probably find me smoking meats in the backyard and enjoying a good bourbon.

If you had to choose one “toxic trait” for yourself, what would it be?
My toxic trait can also be a superpower. It just depends on the timing. I can fall asleep almost anytime, anywhere. It makes travel a breeze but can make getting off the subway at the right stop a bit of a challenge.
What’s one thing we may not know about you?
At one point, I was ranked among the best Halo Wars 2 players in the world.
